What is Jalao
Jalao is a Arabic word that means jalwa (Pump and Show) displaying something beautiful, beautifully. Whereas the word Jalao in Harmandir Sahib means the display of precious jewelery and articles of ornamental beauty studded with precious stones, diamonds, jewels, pearls, bejeweled canopy.
These invaluable articles include necklace of diamonds and pearls of Kanwar Naunihal Singh presented by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, jewel-encrusted ‘kirpan' of the Maharaja.
